Growing Old

Last week I met a lovely lady who inspired me with her stories of setting up an Activate group in our local area 40 years ago. She said they regularly had 600 women attend but was very strict about making sure that everyone who came brought a non-churched friend. Edith was sitting in a wheel chair as we talked and was full of shining faith and optimism. Her husband waited with a smile at her side and said how proud he was of her. They reminded me of the Robert Browning Poem that Ruth Adam’s quotes in her ‘Unlocking the Door’ Activate book –
‘Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in His hand
Who saith “A whole I planned,
Youth shows but half;trust God:
see all, nor be afraid!”‘

Thank you Edith for all you have done for Activate and those in your community over many years, and for inspiring me too!

They say their secret to a happy marriage is ‘love and laughter in the Lord’. They play together and pray together. Enjoy…
