Fiona Castle shares how she swapped anxiety for peace

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything . Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this you will experience God’s peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as
you live in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 6-7)

Before I became a Christian, at the age of thirty-five, I was the biggest worrier you could imagine!  As a mother of four with a husband who was away most of the time, I felt the weight of responsibility of coping, and I always seemed to be in a state of anxiety.

When I invited Jesus into my life, the transformation I experienced was amazing and so unexpected. I had imagined I would have to try even harder to be good in order to please God, but the reality was that I immediately experienced a peace that I never thought was possible! My circumstances didn’t change, but my attitude did.

From that moment, I knew that God cared and that I could move forward, trusting Him for all that would happen. The stress vanished, and peace reigned!  It didn’t mean that I didn’t have problems any more, but knowing that God was in control, I could let go and allow Him to show me the way forward. Amazing grace!

I believe that this is one of the reasons I love to be able to encourage people, many of them mums like me, who struggle with fears and anxiety, to help them know that God is the answer.

Jesus never promised that life would be easy and problem free. He said:

“In the world you WILL have trouble, but be of good courage, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16.33) “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart and the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives, so don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14.27)
