Upgrade your evangelism!! The airplane concert.

At our training day in March Fiona Castle will be leading a seminar on 'Upgrading your evangelism' including her story of God using her to reach out during a recent trans-Atlantic journey.

Beatbox nativity

If you are looking for a fun, different version of the nativity story to play at an outreach or youth event then this is the one! A Devon vicar who used to be a professional beatboxer has produced a Youtube version of the Christmas story. He is very serious looking but the whole story is told with great rhythm and clever lyrics.
Enjoy!

Stethoscope advert

A friend forwarded me this link to a brilliant Youtube advert. You might like to use it at an event or service, or just forward it to friends who might be intrigued by the message. The idea is very simple; a man finds a stethoscope in the street and realises that everything he holds it up to sings a song of what is inside. I am not going to spoil the surprise but there is an unusual quirky ending. Can you guess what is inside the man's heart?

John Lewis Christmas Advert

John Lewis has done it again! I was unexpectedly watching TV last night and an advert came up with a little boy who is desperate for Christmas to arrive. Without any warning, I was all emotional, drawn into the story that is created and following the cute little boy as he waits for the 25th of Decemeber to arrive. I should have worked out it was the John Lewis advertising team and their five million pounds that provoked such a response in me - I have fallen for it again.

The Passion Experience

The story doesn't change – it’s just how we tell it that does. This might be the way in to the gospel for your technologically minded friends. Follow the dramatic last week of Jesus' life, death and resurrection, with a series of free messages via text, email or twitter. Subscribers will be pulled into the dramatic last week of Jesus' life, death and resurrection as it happened 2000 years ago; experiencing in real time the suffering, pain and joy in a series of messages reaching a climax on Easter Sunday, 2011.

I Believe

Are you in need of a five minute break? I know that many worship songs with images are sent around by email but this is one of the best I have seen. Maybe you could have it playing in the background at an event or at the beginning of a pram service. Perhaps there is someone you could email it to today. Or maybe you should just take a moment of your own time and watch the beauty of creation with a believing heart.

When there are no words...

Last week I sat with a friend facing a heart breaking situation. She was looking for wise words and helpful advice, I was unable to give either.Instead we wept together in a little office with the door closed to the world. Sometimes there are no words that seem appropriate. We did manage to pray and handed over all the sadness to God.
When I got back home I sent her the words from an Amy Grant song - 'Better Than a Hallelujah'.

We pour out our misery and God just hears a melody.
Beautiful the mess we are, the honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a hallelujah.

Nativity Plays - special Christmas moments!

There is something lovely about watching children act out the story of Jesus's birth. In almost every school and playgroup throughout the land children dress up in tea towels and dressing gowns and take on the various roles from the Bible stories. What better way for them to learn, experience and understand, albeit at a simple level, the 'greatest story ever told'.

Inception - the Matrix for 2010?

Inception

My son persuaded me to accompany him to watch the new Leonardo DiCaprio action heist movie - Inception.
I was entertained, baffled, intrigued, moved and emerged into the night full of questions. All around me other viewers were echoing the queries in my head - discussions about dreams, reality, guilt, perfection, time and love were breaking out in the cinema forecourt.

The boy and the tree - an inspiring Youtube clip

Have you ever thought that one individual cannot acheive anything? If you have ever felt powerless then try watching this clip from India - I was moved to tears. Malcolm Duncan showed this clip at Spring Harvest, perhaps it will motivate you or maybe you could share it with someone else. If we can work together than we can acheive great things - and I would add that if we work together with God, then nothing is impossible!
