About Activate
Welcome to Activate-your-life.
We know that there are many resources for Christians available today, but we feel that Activate-your-life takes a unique approach because we encourage 'ordinary', individual Christians to be active in friendship evangelism, knowing that you can be effective just by being yourself. We'd like to encourage you to join our community of 'girls getting out there' sharing God's love in natural, meaningful ways.
What is our history?
Activate-Your-Life developed out of 'Activate', which had previously been known as 'Christian Viewpoint for Women' and had started life forty years ago as 'The Christian Ladies Luncheon Club'. The story goes that Ruth Bell Graham met some of the active Christian women in the UK on a visit forty years ago and gently challenged them to reach out directly to other women. A team of gifted and inspirational speakers, movers and shakers, including Helen Cooke, started an organisation that quickly had members and affiliated groups throughout the country. Events were often in hotels, with large numbers of invited guests listening to topical subjects, followed by a relevant gospel 'wrap-up' talk. Conferences in Swanick and magazines followed with more than 500 members throughout the country supporting the trustees and staff.
The organisation evolved to a less speaker dominated, more relational style with a less formal structure and smaller groups meeting in a wider variety of ways. The magazines became more glossy and two excellent books were written by the fantastic Ruth Adams and Jan Harney - Unlocking the Door and Freewheeling.
In recent times, sustaining an office and staff became financially unviable and magazine readership nationally fell away. The decision was taken to move to a volunteer led charity with a bigger emphasis on a network of supporters and a website dedicated to inspiring friendship evangelism.
What do we believe?
Activate-your-life exists to encourage, resource and inspire Christian woman to ‘with-reach’ their friends, neighbours, work colleagues and relatives with God’s love. It enables women to be secure in their identity, living life as Jesus intended it in all its fullness and at the heart of their community, creating innovative and natural opportunities, openings and friendships. Our aim is to be creative, forward thinking and always stretching the boundaries of how Christian women can be salt and light in a fluid society.
Our objectives are
- Our supporters will keep catching the vision that ‘withreach’ is about relationships, friendships, involvement in the issues that matter and being in the places where things are happening.
- Activate events are free from cringe. They should be culturally sensitive and topically engaging and be filled with more than 40% of people who don’t yet know life in all its fullness through a relationship with Jesus.
- We commit to facilitating a website that is full of inspirational ideas and serves as a forum for like minded women to network and connect with each other.
- We commit to organise a conference at least once a year that energises our supporters and enables networking, backed up by regional workshops that offer training and modelling.
Activate-your-life is an evangelistic, evangelical, interdenominational, para-church charity that exists primarily for those who have never heard of us and don’t care what most of those words mean.
As well as our president and two directors, we have a 'Dream Team' of willing and talented volunteers who meet with us six times a year in London. Together we brain storm, discuss, thrash out detail and endeavour to think out of the box. Some of the Dream Team are gifted public speakers and are willing to travel round the country sharing their inspiring message and bringing with them the flavour of Activate Your Life.
We don't ask for annual membership fees and we won't send reminders, but we do need supporters to donate to keep our website going and to help us develop the resources, ideas and articles that make Activate-Your-Life special. We want to keep organising a weekend away and we would like to continue to develop events for training and modelling around the country. Please donate by clicking here. Every pound is greatly appreciated!

God Bless!
